Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 18 December 2013: Amidst all the Christmas markets and festive celebrations, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences organised a rather different sort of lecture for anyone interested. Prof. Dr Neil Shirtcliffe, Professor of Bionics specialising in biomimetic materials at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, and the Student Council of the Faculty of Technology and Bionics explained everyday physical and chemical phenomena in a clear and humorous way during the Christmas lecture.

Prof. Dr Neil Shirtcliffe, Professor of Bionics specialising in biomimetic materials at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, and the Student Council of the Faculty of Technology and Bionics explained everyday physical and chemical phenomena in a clear and humorous way during the Christmas lecture.
The Christmas lecture was aimed at members of the public with an interest in the natural sciences, as well as enthusiasts of physics experiments, with the warning: ‘Please do not try this at home’.
Following the Christmas lecture, donations were collected for a good cause. Thanks to the large number of visitors, a total of 125 euros was raised. The entire proceeds went to Oxfam Deutschland e.V., an independent emergency aid and development organisation dedicated to fighting for a just world free from poverty, where every person’s fundamental rights are safeguarded. Oxfam Deutschland e.V. continues to campaign for the right to sustainable livelihoods, to functioning health and education systems, to a life in safety, to be heard, and to the free development of one’s personality.
