The 2015 Wednesday Academy kicks off the second half of the year

This year’s Wednesday Academy lecture series is held under the theme ‘Genders are people too. New insights from gender equality policy and gender studies’.

Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 16 September 2015: Gender – our social gender – is present everywhere. Gender roles shape social life, from the mundane practices of everyday life to the activities of those involved in business and politics. Experts analyse and discuss these practices within the framework of gender theories. In practice, however, there is often a wide gap between theory and practice.

In the current lecture series organised by the Wednesday Academy, the speakers present research findings and practical analyses, bridging the gap between theory and practice. The lecture series covers a wide range of topics relating to gender discourses and gender practices. The speakers address gender issues from diverse perspectives and discuss the latest findings in their fields with the participants.

Through this lecture series and its thematic focus, the Faculty of Society and Economics at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences aims to encourage students, teaching staff and the interested public to engage in a joint reflection on socially relevant issues relating to ‘gender’. The Faculty cordially invites you to the events, which take place at 6 pm on the Kleve campus, Marie-Curie-Str. 1, Building 1 (Lecture Theatre Centre). Attendance is free of charge and open to all interested parties. No prior registration is required.
