As part of the end-of-year meeting of the VDI Krefeld Regional Group, the VDI University Prize was presented at a ceremony held on 20 November 2015 at the Stadtwaldhaus in Krefeld.
As part of the end-of-year meeting of the VDI Krefeld District Group, the award ceremony for the VDI University Prize took place on 20 November 2015 at the Stadtwaldhaus in Krefeld. With this prize, the Lower Rhine Regional Association recognises outstanding achievements by students from the three universities – Düsseldorf, Niederrhein and Rhein-Waal – in the categories ‘Bachelor’s/Master’s thesis, coursework or project work, and social engagement (by students for students)’. The prize is worth €500.
From the entries submitted for assessment, three students were selected by a jury convened by the Executive Committee of the Lower Rhine District Association, comprising professors from the Faculty of Technology and Bionics and VDI members.
The prizes for the best projects at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences were awarded to Ms Caroline Sophia Derksen for her Bachelor’s thesis entitled “Development and Validation of an Optimisation Tool for Production Planning”, supervised by Prof. Dr Alexander Klein, Professor of Integrated Production Management, and to Mr Fabrice Kirsch for his Bachelor’s thesis entitled “The Geometry of the CIELAB Transformation in Colorimetry”, supervised by Prof. Dr Achim Kehrein, Professor of Applied Mathematics, and Prof. Dr Matthias Krauledat, Professor of Computer Science. Mr Mehran Mehri was also honoured for his exceptional social commitment as a tutor in the subject ‘Mathematics for Engineers’, under the supervision of Prof. Dr Achim Kehrein.
