In collaboration with the zdi Centre for the Kleve District ‘cleverMINT’ at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, a motoring workshop is being held for the first time under the theme ‘Tinkering, tinkering, changing tyres’, specifically for girls in Years 9 and 10.
Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 21 August 2015: This workshop is not just about tinkering, building and repairing; participants will also learn how an electric motor works and what future female drivers should be aware of.
The workshop provides both theoretical knowledge of technical principles and practical skills for carrying out minor car repairs independently. Two practical sessions – ‘Building an electric motor’ and ‘Hands-on experience in the garage’ – are designed to encourage independent working. In addition, the pupils can find out about the many different career opportunities in the automotive industry. At the end, they will receive a certificate of attendance for their future job application portfolio.
Through this programme, the zdi Centre for the Kleve District, cleverMINT, aims to spark young people’s interest in the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and to provide a practical programme to complement their everyday school life.
The course takes place on eight dates, always on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Kleve District Vocational College in Kleve, and begins on 8 September 2015.
