On 24 June 2015, the next Children’s University lecture on the topic of fairy tales will take place at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences during the 2015 summer term. Admission is free. The lecture begins at 5.15 pm in the Audimax at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Kamp-Lintfort.
Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 19 June 2015: Where do fairy tales actually come from, and why are there so many different stories? Who wrote all these fairy tales down? Will visitors to the Children’s University recognise the fairy-tale characters depicted on old fairground signs? Franjo Terhart will whisk the children away into the realm of fairy tales and myths. In a way that is both child-friendly and exciting, he’ll ask himself and his young listeners why elves sometimes lie and witches are always wicked – or are there good witches too?
Fairy-tale expert Franjo Terhart writes books for children and young people, has spent years reading to his son with passion and in different voices, and, as artistic director, runs the Fairy-Tale Festival at the Alte Mühle in Dong.
The Children’s University.
Through the Children’s University, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences offers children aged between 8 and 12 the opportunity to develop a passion for the world of science through lectures (45 minutes) specially designed for them. Just like real students, they are given student ID cards. They sit in lecture theatres and can ask real professors all sorts of questions. The main difference from a proper degree course is that there are no exams to sit.
