The General Student Committee (AStA) invites all interested visitors to the ‘Festival of Tolerance’ on the Kleve campus of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, which will become a meeting place for people from different nations.
Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 29 May 2015: The Festival of Tolerance at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences was held for the first time last year. Numerous students, lecturers and staff from Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences came together to celebrate a cultural and values-based exchange on the Kleve campus. “As the AStA at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, representing the student body from more than 100 different nations, we feel it is our responsibility to overcome cultural barriers and ensure that students at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences feel at home. The Festival of Tolerance was a huge success and strengthened the sense of community amongst the visitors,” says AStA Chair Carolin Holtey.
Following the excellent response last year, the AStA at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences is once again organising the Festival of Tolerance and invites all interested members of the public to the Kleve campus on 3 June 2015. “We have repeatedly encountered great openness and helpfulness in the town of Kleve, which we do not take for granted! We would like to express our gratitude for this and are therefore opening our festival to everyone this year,” explains Carolin Holtey. The programme is aimed at anyone interested and kicks off with a wide range of workshops on the topics of racism, feminism, music and political education. From 6 pm to 10 pm, various groups will be presenting themselves at information stands, such as the ‘Unicef University Group Kleve’, the ‘Anti-Racist Initiative Campus Kleve’, the AIDS charity, the Welcome Centre at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and the City of Kleve’s Integration Council, providing information on various aspects of tolerance, intercultural competence and the coexistence of different cultures.
The programme will be accompanied by a variety of musical performances and a selection of international dishes, specially prepared for this festival by students from Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. A fun park will be set up for younger guests, featuring a rodeo, a bouncy castle and many other attractions.
