On 15 April 2015, Prof. Dr Jakob Lempp, Professor of Political Science specialising in International Relations and Dean of Studies at the Faculty of Society and Economics at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, welcomed US Consul-General Stephen A. Hubler to the main lecture theatre on the Kleve campus.
On 15 April 2015, Prof. Dr Jakob Lempp, Professor of Political Science specialising in International Relations and Dean of Studies at the Faculty of Society and Economics at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, welcomed US Consul-General Stephen A. Hubler to the main lecture theatre on the Kleve campus. In a fascinating lecture on the art of diplomacy, the Consul-General spoke to 130 students and outlined the key stages of his diplomatic career in Germany, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Macedonia and Russia. US Consul-General Hubler had also studied International Relations and graduated from the University of Southern California.
During a subsequent discussion session, he answered students’ questions about family life in the diplomatic service, career opportunities for women, and current issues such as free trade agreements and Edward Snowden. The students seemed particularly interested in the possibility of an internship at the Consulate General in Düsseldorf. The team in Düsseldorf is looking forward to receiving numerous applications from students on the Bachelor’s degree programme in ‘International Relations’ at the Faculty of Society and Economics.
