Indian Consul-General Raveesh Kumar visits Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences

Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 22 April 2016: The Indian Consul-General, Raveesh Kumar, was first welcomed by the university’s President, Dr Heide Naderer. During the ensuing discussion, the Consul-General was able to gain a comprehensive insight into the university and its range of courses. However, the focus of the discussion was on the group of Indian students at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, who, with around 450 students currently enrolled, represent the largest group of international students. The Consulate regards it as its duty to assist students with visa matters, to provide information on intercultural differences and to support students as they embark on their careers in Germany. Open days on these topics are held regularly at the Consulate in Frankfurt. The discussion also covered potential areas of cooperation between Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences and the Indian Consulate-General in Frankfurt. As part of such a partnership, a programme similar to the open day in Frankfurt could in future be offered once a year at the university.

This was followed by a discussion with Indian students. The entire event was organised and facilitated by the Indian International Association at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences. Raveesh Kumar briefed the students on German-Indian economic relations and emphasised their importance for India. At the same time, he urged the students to actively integrate and to learn the German language. The students also had the opportunity to ask the Consul-General questions.
