Until 4 August 2023, residents, clubs, businesses and other organisations in Kleve can submit their innovative and sustainable projects to the ‘Klever Birne’ sustainability competition. The best ideas will be presented on 14 September 2023 at the ‘Make an Impact! Day’ to the public and a panel of experts, including, amongst others, the former Federal Minister for the Environment, Dr Barbara Hendricks, and the Mayor of Kleve, Wolfgang Gebing. Before the pitch, participants will take part in a workshop led by experts to prepare them for their presentation. Here, they will learn how to present their idea on a poster, visualise it and deliver a flawless presentation. The top three winners will receive prize money ranging from 500 to 2,000 euros, which is intended to support the further implementation of their projects.

The Sustainability Prize is being awarded for the first time jointly by the City of Kleve and Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. Eligible to take part are citizens, private groups, students, educational providers, public institutions (schools, nurseries, libraries, etc.), companies, associations, start-ups and organisations that see themselves as shaping the future in the spirit of sustainability. The submitted project must be carried out in Kleve and address at least one of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
