Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences invites interested members of the public, as well as representatives from regional businesses and associations, to the Kamp-Lintfort campus on Thursday, 28 September 2017 at 4.30 pm to share their ideas on the development of the Green FabLab.
Following the successful launch event for the planned Green FabLab in July on the Kamp-Lintfort campus, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences is hosting a second workshop: together with all interested parties, the aim is to further explore and develop the initial ideas. The guiding principle for this workshop is to set the direction for the specialist meetings on specific topics that will follow next year. All interested parties will be given the opportunity to help shape the agendas for these meetings.
The Green FabLab is a facility that Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences aims to establish in collaboration with regional partners as part of the 2020 State Garden Show in Kamp-Lintfort. The term ‘Green FabLab’ is modelled on the FabLab (short for Fabrication Laboratory), which already exists on the Kamp-Lintfort campus. The Kamp-Lintfort FabLab is part of an international network of open workshops designed to disseminate knowledge about digital manufacturing and to enable interested people to engage in creative work under the motto ‘How to Make Almost Anything’.
A Green FabLab is intended to extend this concept of open and creative working to the fields of environmental and agricultural research, creating a creative space for interdisciplinary collaboration between business, technology, the environment and sustainability, involving science, industry and society alike. “This type of knowledge transfer is very close to the heart of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, which is why we invite all interested parties to contribute their ideas and help shape the planning and development of the Green FabLab in Kamp-Lintfort,” says the university’s president, Dr Heide Naderer.
The event will take place in the former RAG warehouse building on the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences campus, Friedrich-Heinrich-Allee 59, 47475 Kamp-Lintfort.
