In her lecture ‘Does money make you happy? On the significance of experimental research for economics’, Professor Dr Ute Merbecks explores the topic against the backdrop of Richard Thaler being awarded the Nobel Prize and in the context of understanding private financial decisions.
This year’s Wednesday Academy is being held under the multifaceted theme ‘From regional to global – the economy and society in the current climate’. In her lecture ‘Does money make you happy? On the Significance of Experimental Research for Economics’, Professor Dr Ute Merbecks, Professor of General Business Administration specialising in corporate finance, will address the topic against the backdrop of Richard Thaler’s Nobel Prize and in the context of understanding private financial decisions. Psychological research methods help to explain economic decision-making processes that deviate from the neoclassical research paradigm. These approaches will be explained and discussed in an accessible and clear manner during the lecture.
The lecture will take place on 7 November 2018 at 6.00 pm on the Kleve campus, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, in Building 2, Room 02 01 017 (Seminar Room 5).
As part of the Wednesday Academy, current topics are presented clearly by speakers from academia and the professional world, examined from a theoretical perspective and discussed in a large group. The lecture series is aimed primarily at the general public, but also at students and teaching staff at the university. Attendance is free of charge and no prior registration is required.
