In her lecture ‘What we (don’t) talk about when it comes to care and migration’, Prof. Dr Maria S. Rerrich provides insights into the diversity of care tasks and how they are distributed within society and between the sexes.
Rerrich is a professor of sociology at the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences at Munich University of Applied Sciences and, amongst other things, examines the self-image and view of humanity that we associate with the ethical distribution of tasks relating to upbringing, childcare and care in our society. She explains why this is more a matter of redistribution amongst women than a division of labour between the sexes, and outlines the role that migration plays in this context.
The lecture will take place on 21 November 2018 at 6.00 pm on the Kleve Campus, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, in Building 2, Room 02 01 017 (Seminar Room 5).
As part of the Wednesday Academy, current topics are presented in an engaging manner by speakers from academia and professional practice, examined from a theoretical perspective and discussed in a large group. The lecture series is aimed primarily at the general public, but also at students and academic staff at the university. Attendance is free of charge and no prior registration is required.
