The recently published University Development Plan 2030 (HEP 2030) sets out how Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences is positioning itself for the future in the face of current challenges. Work on the strategic framework for the new development plan began back in 2022. Following an extensive participatory process, the HEP 2030 was drawn up and has now been presented to the public.
Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences today presented its university development plan, which sets out the framework for its strategic direction up to 2030. The thematic areas range from ‘Study and Teaching’ through ‘Research, Innovation and Transfer’, ‘Internationality and Diversity’, ‘Participation and Equal Opportunities’ to ‘Organisation and Governance’.
“The development of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences is shaped by current opportunities and challenges. Our world, our environment and our society are increasingly characterised by complex issues – be it climate change, pandemics, social inequality, armed conflicts, threats to democracy or civil liberties, and much more besides,” said University President Prof. Dr Locker-Grütjen. “In this situation, the sciences take on particular significance. Our university helps to shape social transformation through knowledge-driven discourse.”
The university development plan sets out the framework for fulfilling this social responsibility up to the year 2030. It should be seen as an innovative ‘contract for the future’ for Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences (HSRW), which takes into account the challenges of transformation and the opportunities associated with it. Future development is built on solid foundations: HSRW already sees itself as an international university in the region and for the region, with a thematic focus on sustainability and transformation.
In order to achieve the overarching strategic objectives, a number of themes, ideas and measures have been identified that will shape the university’s future development. These are set out in the programme priorities of the HEP. They outline the developmental steps the HSRW will take in the coming years. The cross-cutting themes of equality, communication, digitalisation and the region are generally reflected in all programme priorities.
A kick-off workshop in June 2024 marked the internal starting point for the implementation of the University Development Plan. At the kick-off event, the key stakeholders came together to finalise the work on the programme priorities and organise participation. To generate long-term momentum, dialogue sessions will take place annually in the years to come.
