The German Society for Limnology and the Professional Association for the Biology, Ecology and Conservation of Inland Waters and Groundwater, in collaboration with Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, invite you to the DGL’s annual conference at the Kamp-Lintfort campus.
Under the theme ‘Limnology on the Lower Rhine: Knowledge, Economy, Pathways and Wilderness’, the focus is on the diverse uses of water bodies and their surroundings, which can present both challenges and opportunities for their development. Consequently, the conference will feature over 150 specialist presentations and poster contributions addressing the many issues surrounding water bodies and water management, such as the restoration and management of water bodies, the EU Water Framework Directive, invasive alien species, heavily modified water bodies, reintroduction projects, water bodies in agriculture, trace substances and ecosystem services provided by water bodies.
The water landscape of the Lower Lower Rhine (Ramsar Bird Sanctuary), with the estuaries of the rivers Lippe, Emscher, Ruhr and the nearby Meuse, as well as numerous standing waters, offers a wide range of opportunities for a total of six planned field trips and for a short break of your own around the time of the event.
The conference is being organised in cooperation with the North Rhine-Westphalia Regional Association of the German Association for Water Management, Wastewater and Waste (DWA). DWA members can register at the same reduced rate as members of the DGL.
