A strong partnership for the future

Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences and the Wesel Employment Agency have signed a cooperation agreement to provide comprehensive support for students. The agreement is already being implemented, offering personalised advisory services and support for students who are unsure about their studies. The partnership is providing fresh impetus and is thus helping to ensure a supply of young skilled workers in the region.

By signing a cooperation agreement, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences (HSR) and the Wesel Job Centre have officially confirmed their partnership. The aim of the partnership is to provide comprehensive support for students – from academic guidance and counselling during their studies right through to a successful start to their careers.
Prof. Dr Oliver Locker-Grütjen, President of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, and Ms Barbara Ossyra, Chair of the Management Board of the Wesel Job Centre, emphasised the importance of the collaboration at the signing ceremony. “We are delighted that the agreement is not merely on paper, but is already being actively put into practice. Many of our students are already benefiting from the advice services offered by the Wesel Job Centre,” said Prof. Locker-Grütjen. Ms Ossyra also emphasised: “Through our close collaboration, we are creating valuable opportunities for the students’ future careers.” The agreement includes, amongst other things:

Advisory support throughout the course of study
Collaboration with the HSRW’s “Next Step Niederrhein” project to provide support for students who are having doubts about their studies or who have dropped out
Support for graduates entering the job market

The personalised advisory services, available in German or English, are open to students at both campuses and are provided on the university’s premises in Kleve and Kamp-Lintfort. The needs-based advice includes, for example, the highly sought-after ‘CV Check’, which helps students optimise their CVs and cover letters. To ensure the ongoing development of this partnership, regular meetings are planned between Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences and the Wesel Jobcentre. These meetings will provide an opportunity to reflect on experiences, evaluate successes and generate new ideas for collaboration. Furthermore, the partnership helps to prepare students early on and in a sustainable manner for the regional and North Rhine-Westphalia-wide labour market, and to attract them to it.
