The next event in the Wednesday Academy series will focus on the topic ‘Gender diversity on the supervisory board and corporate success – fundamentals and empirical evidence’.
Following a lengthy political debate, a law was passed in Germany at the beginning of 2015 requiring certain companies to meet a 30 per cent quota for women on supervisory boards. As part of the lecture by Professor Dr Ute Merbecks, Professor of General Business Administration specialising in corporate finance at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, the theoretical foundations of quotas for women will first be critically examined. This will be followed by an overview of selected empirical studies from various countries.
The lecture will take place on 6 November 2019 at 6.00 pm on the Kleve campus, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, in Building 01, Room 01 EG 005 (Lecture Theatre 1).
As part of the Wednesday Academy, current topics are presented in an accessible manner by speakers from academia and professional practice, examined from a theoretical perspective and discussed in a large group. The lecture series is aimed primarily at the general public, but also at students and teaching staff at the university. Attendance is free of charge and no advance registration is required.
