For several years now, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences and the Förderverein Hochschule Rhein-Waal e.V. have been bringing companies and students together through speed-dating events. Once again, this event format proved a resounding success. In 10-minute intervals, 15 companies and around 90 registered students were able to get to know one another to discuss internships and final-year projects.
Young professionals are also in high demand in the Lower Rhine region. With more than 7,200 students across numerous departments, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences offers enormous potential for companies in the region. As a valuable partner in securing a skilled workforce, the university’s ‘Speed-Dating’ event gives students the opportunity to introduce themselves to as many interesting companies as possible in a very short space of time. At this year’s event, students and company representatives got to know one another through a total of 110 one-to-one sessions.
DEFLEX ®-Dichtsysteme GmbH from Moers took part for the first time. “As a smaller medium-sized business, we were initially hesitant to take part in the speed-dating event for the first time, and approached it as a pilot project. However, the response showed us that our three project topics attracted a great deal of interest. We are confident that we will soon be able to reach agreements exclusively with international students,” says Managing Director Reinhard Vinkmann with conviction.
The IT service provider ISIS IC GmbH from Wesel took part as a returning participant. “For us, the events have already been very successful in previous years. For example, last year we selected five candidates from our pool of speed-dating participants for an internship. For one student, this even led to their first job. We were also able to make some promising contacts at this year’s speed-dating event,” says Managing Director Dirk L. Unsenos.
