Once again this year, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences made a strong showing at international education fairs across Asia. In China, Indonesia and Vietnam, keen prospective students visited the university’s own stand.
Prof. Peter Simon from the Faculty of Life Sciences, Prof. Dr Dirk Nissing from the Faculty of Technology and Bionics, and Xin Zheng from the Strategic Communications and Marketing Unit represented Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences at the ‘China Education Expo (CEE)’ in Beijing and Chengdu from 20 to 26 October 2017. During more than 300 discussions, they provided information about the degree programmes on offer. The China Education Expo is China’s leading education fair, attracting significant international participation and 60,000 visitors annually. In addition, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences showcased itself at a series of information events, including at the German Embassy School in Beijing and at Chengdu No. 1 Middle School (a DSD school in Chengdu).
Prof. Dr Matthias Kleinke from the Faculty of Life Sciences and Prof. Dr Ronny Hartanto from the Faculty of Technology and Bionics represented Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences at the “European Higher Education Fair Indonesia 2017 (EHEF)’ in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 4 and 5 November 2017. Around 130 European universities were exhibiting there. Almost 10,000 visitors flocked to the fair. Even before the fair officially began, Prof. Kleinke had introduced Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences to prospective Indonesian students via an online seminar. More than 40 participants learnt about the degree programmes on offer and campus life.
At the German Higher Education Fair Vietnam (DHV) in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City – a significantly smaller event with around 1,400 visitors – Laura Paul from the Central Student Advisory Service and Xin Zheng were on hand to represent Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences from 9 to 10 December. Over the course of these two days, they held over 200 discussions with prospective students.
Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences was once again able to rely on the support of GATE-Germany for the organisation and its participation in the fair. GATE-Germany is a joint consortium of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK), which, amongst other things, helps to ensure that Germany remains an attractive and competitive centre of higher education internationally in the medium and long term.
