The Children’s University at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences is starting for the 2018 summer term. The first lecture will focus on the topic ‘How a fish becomes a submarine’.
Long before engineers existed, technical problems were solved by nature. Professor Dr William Megill, Professor of Bionics specialising in sensor technology and robotics, will explain to the young students how nature can still serve as a model today. An engineer and a biologist, his area of specialism is underwater life.
During the lecture, the children will learn about the development of the bionic, human-powered underwater boat. It has the body shape of a tuna and the fins of a dolphin. The boat is propelled solely by the pilot’s muscle power.
The event will take place on 18 April 2018 from 5.15 pm to 6.00 pm in the Audimax on the Kamp-Lintfort campus of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Friedrich-Heinrich-Allee 25. Admission is free and no registration is required.
