On 8 November 2021, the Indian Consul-General, Dr Amit Telang, visited Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences. He discussed potential areas of cooperation between the university and the Indian Consulate-General in Frankfurt with the Vice-President for International Affairs and Diversity, Prof. Dr Tatiana Zimenkova, and the Head of the International Centre, Dr Joost Kleuters. A meeting with Indian students was also on the agenda.
During the visit, the Consul-General was able to gain a comprehensive insight into the university and the courses it offers. However, the discussion focused on the group of Indian students at the university, who, numbering around 500 at present, represent the largest group of international students. The Consulate regards it as its duty to assist students with visa matters, to provide information on intercultural differences and to support students as they embark on their careers in Germany. Particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, both the Consulate and the university have made active efforts to simplify the complicated procedures involved in applying for student visas. The discussion also covered opportunities for cooperation with partner universities in India. The Consul-General offered his active support in this regard.
