Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences is delighted to welcome this year’s Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates. At a graduation ceremony followed by a champagne reception on 9 June 2017, held at the Stadthalle in Kleve and in the Audimax on the Kamp-Lintfort campus, 615 students were sent off into their professional careers with best wishes for the future.

“We are delighted to have so many successful graduates. We are confident that, having successfully completed their degrees, they are excellently qualified to start their careers. We wish them every success in their future endeavours,” says the university’s President, Dr Heide Naderer.
The Friends of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences (Förderverein Hochschule Rhein-Waal e.V.), together with the Lower Rhine Business Association and ALTANA AG, presented awards for outstanding achievements. The students Yousef Mustafa Alkhayyat (Bachelor’s degree programme in ‘Mechanical Engineering’), Sandeep Vasudevan (Master’s programme in ‘Mechanical Engineering’) and Jonas Wollweber (Bachelor’s programme in ‘Industrial Engineering’) from the Faculty of Technology and Bionics were honoured by the Förderverein Hochschule Rhein-Waal e.V. The Bachelor’s graduates Juliane Friedrich (“Psychology (Work and Organisational Psychology)”), Karsten Kempken (“E-Government”) and David Sevsek (“Environment and Energy”) from the Faculty of Communication and Environment received their prizes from ALTANA AG. The sponsors congratulated the graduates on their degrees and presented them with prizes worth 500 euros each. Finally, the Unternehmerschaft Niederrhein e.V. recognised the achievements of student Carolin Bucher from the “Quality, Environment, Safety and Hygiene” programme at the Faculty of Life Sciences and presented her with a prize worth 1,500 euros. All the prize winners are distinguished by their outstanding academic achievements, having completed their studies within the standard duration, as well as their additional social or cultural involvement in various projects at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences.
Special thanks go to the Niederrhein Business Association and ALTANA AG, who once again this year donated prizes via the Friends’ Association, and to the numerous sponsors from the business community who are actively committed to the university’s successful development.
For the second time, Katjes Fassin GmbH & Co. KG awarded the Katjes Prize, worth 1,000 euros. All final-year dissertations from the Faculty of Society and Economics from the previous year that received a ‘very good’ grade are eligible for nomination. The prize winners are selected jointly by the university and the company. The best dissertation is chosen based on the following criteria: the practical relevance of the topic, the innovativeness of the approach, the feasibility of the results and the academic rigour. This year’s Katjes Prize was awarded to Anica Waldendorf from the ‘Gender and Diversity’ Bachelor’s programme. The prize was presented by Reinhard Sanders and Jürgen Kucken from Katjes Fassin GmbH & Co. KG.
Once again, the ZONTA Student Award was also presented. The ZONTA Club Niederrhein honoured the exceptional social commitment of Jenny Mushegera, a student on the ‘International Relations’ Bachelor’s programme in the Faculty of Society and Economics, with the ‘ZONTA Student Award’. The President of the ZONTA Club Niederrhein, Pia Esser, presented the winner with the prize, which is worth 1,000 euros. The Union of German ZONTA Clubs, an international service organisation dedicated in particular to advancing the status of women in legal, political and economic terms, presents awards once a year to support young women.
Special thanks also go to the Förderverein Campus Camp-Lintfort e.V., which honoured a total of twelve students with prizes for the best graduates from each degree programme at the Faculty of Communication and Environment in Kamp-Lintfort. The Friends’ Association presented the prizes, each worth 200 euros, to:

In the Faculty of Technology and Bionics, Marvin Brand from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘Mechanical Engineering’ and Henja-Niniane Wehmann from the Master’s programme in ‘Bionics/Biomimetics’ were honoured.
The most successful graduates from the Faculty of Life Sciences are Tanja Pollmann from the Master’s programme in ‘Food Sciences’ and Linda Jakobs from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘Bio Science and Health’.
The Faculty of Society and Economics honours Ravi Jagasia from the ‘Economics and Finance’ Master’s programme and Anica Waldendorf from the ‘Gender and Diversity’ Bachelor’s programme.
