During the last semester break, Prof. Oliver Serfling was invited to give a guest lecture as part of the Master’s programme in Business Administration at the National Technical University in Kharkiv, Ukraine. His lecture focused on how capacity-building measures need to be designed in order to generate sustainable benefits for organisations and to drive forward the sustainable development of entire countries and regions.
In his lecture, Prof. Serfling provided insights into his ongoing research on the evaluation of capacity-building measures as part of the TransRegInt project. He highlighted the complexity and challenges involved in implementing such initiatives, as they must address different levels simultaneously – something that is difficult for practitioners to achieve. He also pointed out shortcomings in the proper impact assessment of such capacity-building initiatives.
