As part of the Children’s University programme at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in the summer term of 2018, the fourth lecture will focus on the topic ‘Eene, meene, muh: How does the milk get into the cow?’.
Almost every child is familiar with cows grazing peacefully – at least if they live in a rural area or have ever spent their holidays in the countryside. Most children also enjoy drinking milk or eating yoghurt. But this can lead to questions popping into your head, such as: Why do cows eat grass, and why do they have to burp all the time? How does a cow actually produce milk, and how does it come out? Is milk always white? How much milk does a cow produce, and what can you do with the milk? What happens if a cow falls ill? Professor Steffi Wiedemann, DVM, PhD, Professor of Livestock Science and Environmental Impacts at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, will provide answers to these and other questions in her lecture.
The event will take place on 4 July 2018 from 5.15 pm to 6.00 pm at the Kleve campus of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, 47533 Kleve, in the Lecture Theatre Centre, Building 1, ground floor, Audimax. Admission is free and no registration is required.
