Why did you choose the QUSH degree programme at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences?
I’ve always had a keen interest in the environment. When I saw HSRW stand at a careers fair in my town and got chatting to the staff, they told me about the degree programmes. As soon as the QUSH programme came up in conversation, I knew straight away that I had to look into it more closely. I attended lectures as a guest student during a taster week, after which I decided to give it a go.
What was the topic of your Bachelor’s thesis?
Updating the climate protection strategy of the town of Emmerich am Rhein
What is your typical working day like?
My day-to-day work involves inspecting the branches. I visit the branches and check, for example, the documentation, the quality of the baked goods, and general and workplace hygiene. I also carry out production and supplier audits.
What skills did you acquire during your studies that you can now put to good use in your job?
Organisational skills, time management and the ability to apply knowledge and information help me in my day-to-day work. I’d also like to mention environmental awareness, even though I can’t currently apply it in my job.
What advice would you give to current or prospective students?
I would always recommend to prospective students or those considering a degree to give it a go, because you have nothing to lose and can only gain experience. To current students, I would advise them to always believe in themselves and not to despair. A degree course always presents challenges, but these can be overcome. The course has so much to offer and opens up many different opportunities in professional life.
