Bionics you can touch, share and ‘like’. The interactive exhibition GREEN UP YOUR FUTURE will be stopping off at the Kleve Campus as part of its tour of Germany from 28 March to 27 April 2018.
To inspire young people with an interest in scientific topics and offer career guidance tailored to their needs – that is the aim of the travelling exhibition GREEN UP YOUR FUTURE (GUYF). Featuring a unique, cross-media concept, it is aimed at school pupils and will be on display at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Kleve from 28 March to 27 April 2018. Young visitors can look forward to a variety of interactive stations, exhibits and displays that provide fascinating insights into the world of bionics, as well as offering exciting highlights of future opportunities through careers in the ‘green economy’.
A shark you can rub against, an eagle that flies away from energy waste, and a massive gripper arm that safely transports highly fragile objects: these are just a few of the exhibition’s highlights, which combine haptic, digital and multidimensional elements to create a cross-media infotainment experience. But GREEN UP YOUR FUTURE does more than simply demonstrate how bionics draws on nature’s models to create surprising and forward-looking technical solutions: it also opens doors for young people to fascinating careers with a future. Real-life examples from actual apprentices and students reflect the everyday lives of the young target audience. A database featuring over 350 green careers also offers particular added value. All content and experiences can be shared via social media and encourage dialogue with like-minded people as well as employers from business, science and research.
“The GUYF concept suits us perfectly,” explains Professor William Megill, a biologist and bionics expert at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. “As a young and innovative university, we place a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary and application-oriented research. In this context, the practical application of research is always a particular focus for students and lecturers alike. We expect this interactive exhibition to build attractive bridges for those interested in the surprisingly vast world of ‘green’ careers.”
GUYF is an exhibition organised by BIOKON, the Research Association Bionics Competence Network e.V. – of which Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences is a member – and the Green Economy Academy e.V. The travelling exhibition is funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, as well as by the European Social Fund of the European Union.
