On 25 May 2019, the popular Schwanenritter Race will take place for the seventh time. Once again, twelve teams will be challenged to build their own boats using the materials provided and then compete in a race on the Spoy Canal.
From now on, interested teams – consisting of four people – can register for the race via the registration tool. The first twelve entries will be accepted.
In keeping with the Kleve Swan Knight legend, every boat must have a swan and a swan knight on board. There are no limits to creativity. From 11.45 am, all teams will have two hours to build their boat using the identical materials provided. As in previous years, only a bionic propulsion system – i.e. no motor – is permitted. This may be prepared in advance. The finished boats will be launched at the turning basin in front of the canteen. The starting signal will be given there at 1.45 pm. The prize-giving ceremony will take place at approximately 2.30 pm. The event forms part of the Open Day at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences. Staff and students invite interested visitors from 11.00 to 16.00 to take a look behind the scenes at the university and get a taste of campus life.
