On 7 December 2016, the Children’s University at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences will hold its next session on the topic of game theory. Admission is free. The session begins at 5.15 pm in the Audimax at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Kleve, Marie-Curie-Straße 1.
When do we make rational decisions in business or in our everyday lives, and when do we make fair ones? What do these two concepts actually mean, and are they compatible with one another?
Game theory is used to examine decision-making situations in which several participants influence one another. In this context, behavioural economics distinguishes between whether the participants behave cooperatively or non-cooperatively.
In this Children’s University lecture, Wolf Gardian works with the children to find out whether there is such a thing as an ‘optimal’ decision under these conditions, and what such a decision might look like. Is it always sensible to cooperate?
The Children’s University
Through the Children’s University, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences offers children aged between eight and twelve the opportunity to develop a passion for the world of science through lectures (45 minutes) specially designed for them. Just like real students, they are given student ID cards. They sit in lecture theatres and can ask real professors all sorts of questions. The big difference from a proper degree course is that there are no exams to sit.
