The programme of events to mark the university’s 10th anniversary kicks off with the university’s participation in this year’s Kleve Rose Monday parade, featuring a specially designed float. The idea came from members of the university staff, and the Executive Board was happy to approve it.
The idea came from staff at the university, and the Executive Board was pleased to approve it. “We are delighted with this idea and the commitment shown. It demonstrates our understanding of the region and, at the same time, offers us a wonderful opportunity to kick off our anniversary year,” said Professor Dr Eberhard Menzel, Acting President.
A seven-member team of staff members was quickly formed; as the carnival committee, they made the necessary preparations. They spent many hours brainstorming numerous design ideas, tinkering, assembling and painting. In addition to the logo, the anniversary symbol and the university’s colours, the float is adorned with the motto ‘Rooted in the region, connected to the world’. The float is now on display in all its splendour, ready for action.
The crew and the accompanying walking group are also very excited. Alongside the University Executive Board, representatives from the faculties and the Carnival Committee will be on the float. They will all be wearing colourful academic gowns and doctoral caps. The participants in the marching group will be dressed in costumes with an international flair.
