Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 3 December 2013: Mechanical engineers develop, manufacture and market products and the associated technical services. The Master’s degree programme in ‘Mechanical Engineering’ provides advanced specialist knowledge and scientific methods for the development, planning and marketing of technical products.

The wide range of specialisation options available offers students the opportunity to explore their individual interests and pursue their personal goals. To this end, students choose specialisations from the fields of ‘Advanced Product Engineering’, ‘Energy and Process Engineering’, ‘Power Transmission Systems’, ‘Mechatronics’, ‘Production’ and ‘Materials’. This approach enables graduates to refine their professional profile for their future careers.

The Master’s programme in ‘Mechanical Engineering’ leads to a second professionally qualifying degree, which significantly broadens career prospects compared to a Bachelor’s degree. Thanks to the methodological training provided, graduates have opportunities across many sectors. Graduates are equally well-suited for roles in research and development, production, marketing, sales and the servicing of technical equipment and products, as well as for management positions in industry and public administration. In addition to general mechanical and plant engineering, graduates are qualified for careers in energy and environmental engineering, process engineering, the electrical and electronics industry, the automotive industry, medical technology, automation technology, aerospace, and technical services such as technical consultancy and planning in specialist fields.

The standard duration of the ‘Mechanical Engineering’ Master’s programme is three semesters and leads to the degree of Master of Science. This qualification entitles graduates to enrol on a PhD programme. The programme can be started in either the summer or winter semester.
