Under the theme ‘New framework conditions in the new funding period – implications for agriculture’, the first lecture in the Studium Generale series will take place. Elisabeth Verhaag, nature conservation officer at the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Agriculture, will give a talk on Tuesday 21 April at 6 pm at the Kamp-Lintfort campus of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences.
Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 17 April 2015: Agricultural reform presents new challenges for farming practices. What options are available to farms for implementing ecological focus areas? What funding opportunities are associated with this? What are the new obligations under the so-called ‘greening’ requirements? And how does the agricultural reform seek to counteract the decline in biodiversity?
The first lecture in the Studium Generale series at the Kamp-Lintfort campus will address these and other fascinating questions. In addition to agricultural reform and its implications for the farming sector, the speaker will also provide a brief overview of other initiatives relating to biodiversity and agriculture in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The lecture forms part of the Studium Generale programme. The lecture series is aimed at the general public, as well as students, lecturers and staff at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, and presents current topics in a way that is relevant to everyday life and informative. The series also offers the opportunity to engage with current issues. “We invite everyone, regardless of age, to attend these fascinating lectures,” says the University’s President, Prof. Dr Marie-Louise Klotz. She also sees the programme as an opportunity to visit the University’s two campuses and the new buildings on the new campuses.
