Following its successful launch last term, the Bachelor’s degree programme in Early Years Education is continuing its lecture series this summer term. Experts from various educational disciplines will be giving talks on current topics.
The theme of this series of workshop discussions is ‘Working with parents and families’. Three talks are planned on the topics of ‘Collaboration with parents in day-to-day nursery life’, ‘Parent and family work at the counselling centre for children, young people and families’ and ‘The Marte Meo Parent Invitation Programme’.
All professionals and staff working in educational settings – including, for example, nursery schools, schools, early intervention services, and child and youth welfare services – as well as students at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and other interested parties are invited. In addition to the aim of professional development, the exchange between participants is a key aspect. Attendance at the events is free of charge.
The series begins with the topic ‘Collaboration with parents in everyday nursery life’. The speaker, Kerstin Kleen – a nursery teacher, nursery manager and certified parent coach – will provide an overview of the changing nature of working with parents, collaboration with parents in today’s world and building a strong foundation of trust. She will also discuss attachment theory in relation to parents, the demands placed on childcare staff and the challenges they face, whilst providing practical examples.
The first workshop session will take place on 11 April 2019 at 6.00 pm on the Kleve campus,
