Dutch and German garden culture and their interrelationships
Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 30 June 2016: The development of garden culture in the Netherlands and Germany is a wide-ranging topic. Taking the Lower Rhine cultural region as its starting point, the lecture will first outline the historical development through the lens of selected key figures. It will then focus on developments in the 19th and 20th centuries up to the present day.
Manfred Lucenz and Klaus Bender are renowned gardeners from Schneppenbaum. As part of the ‘Open Gardens in the Kleve Region’ programme, in which Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences has also been taking part since this year, the two speakers welcome thousands of visitors every year. The lecture forms part of the Studium Generale programme. The lecture series is aimed at the general public, as well as students, lecturers and staff at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, and presents current topics in a way that is relevant to everyday life and informative. The series also offers the opportunity to engage with current issues. “We invite everyone, regardless of age, to attend these fascinating lectures,” says the University’s President, Dr Heide Naderer. At the same time, she sees the programme as an opportunity to get to know the University’s two campuses.
Attendance at the Studium Generale lectures at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences is free of charge for members of the public.
