This year’s ‘Freshers’ Week’ – the orientation week at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences for the 2019/2020 winter semester – begins on 23 September 2019. As well as the welcome event for first-year students, there will be numerous activities and information sessions for new students at both campuses. Once again this year, the highlights include the ‘Freshers’ Market’ and the ‘Freshers’ Fair’, featuring a varied programme of events, as well as the ‘Homecoming Cup’, to which all interested members of the public are also welcome.
As part of the induction week for the coming winter term, a wide range of activities, events and information stands await new students at both campuses of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences from 23 to 27 September. Following the official welcome for first-year students, a varied induction programme will be on offer – including the traditional barbecue, a city and campus treasure hunt, various sporting activities, live music and film screenings. There will be plenty of information available at the Freshers’ Market and the Freshers’ Fair, where stands run by internal and external organisations will provide insights into the various activities, projects, groups and initiatives associated with the university. The Kleve Freshers’ Market will take place on 26 September from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm in and around the old granary. Its Kamp-Lintfort counterpart – the Freshers’ Fair – will be held on 24 September from 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm.
Another highlight of the induction week is the Homecoming Cup in Kleve, which is taking place for the fifth time this year at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. The starting signal for the inter-faculty sports competition will be given on 27 September at 2.00 pm on the Kleve campus. Teams of five must complete a relay race comprising various disciplines, including canoeing on the Spoy Canal, an obstacle course and a bicycle slalom. The highlight of the sporting competition is the joint climb up a four-metre-high wall, which requires exceptional teamwork from all participants if they are to ultimately lift the coveted trophy.
