The “Locals4Students” mentoring programme is entering its next phase. In the past, numerous local residents have taken on the role of mentors, thereby helping many students to settle into their studies.
This year, too, we are looking for mentors or ‘locals’ who would like to help students feel at home in their new surroundings. Students from abroad, in particular, look forward to this form of support, as language is usually not the only problem. Cultural differences can also pose a challenge.
However, it is entirely up to the mentors themselves to decide what they can and wish to offer in their role as advisers. Both the students and the university are grateful for any form of support.
To get to know one another and exchange ideas, an information session will take place on 30 November 2017 at 6.30 pm on the Kleve campus of the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, in Building 2A, ground floor, Room 002. Admission is free. You can register by emailing locals4students@hochschule-rhein-waal.de. Refreshments will, of course, be provided.
