University music

Music is an integral part of and an expression of the open and diverse university life. It brings people together and fosters a sense of community. Rehearsal rooms, the recording studio and concerts on campus are places where students can meet and build and maintain relationships with other students and colleagues – including those from other departments. It opens up new horizons of knowledge, broadens perspectives and allows students to benefit from the transfer effects of musical activity.

Making music helps to reduce stress and enables you to stay more focused during demanding exam and study periods. Furthermore, musical activity has been shown to improve memory and learning ability. And: music is simply great fun!

University Music Offers

Kleve

A dedicated room equipped with a drum kit, keyboard and amplifiers is available in Kleve for (band) rehearsals. This space can also be used, for example, for vocal rehearsals and rehearsals by small string ensembles. You can find a calendar here and book the room.

The university’s music department is located close to the campus, on the premises of the Kleve-Kellen Music School. Rehearsal rooms, complete with a keyboard and stereo system, are available here for all students. A range of discounted lessons tailored specifically to students at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences is available.

Kleve

There is an audio lab / recording studio located in Building 06 01 018, right in the centre of the campus. It features a large soundproof booth and a control room. In consultation with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gehnen, the studio – including technical equipment such as microphones, DI boxes, a studio computer (Cubase), an audio interface and monitoring speakers – can be used for university music programmes and student projects.

Kamp-Lintfort

In consultation with Thomas Laubach, there is also an audio lab / recording studio here, which is currently being set up. Recordings and productions can already be carried out here as well.
