Following the Stifterverband’s renewal of the ‘Shaping Diversity’ certificate for Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences in August, it has now arrived in Kleve. The certificate is valid for a further three years, until August 2025. By renewing the certificate, the Stifterverband recognises the university’s commitment to and engagement with diversity on campus.
Following the Stifterverband’s renewal of the ‘Shaping Diversity’ certificate for Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences in August, it has now arrived in Kleve. The certificate is valid for a further three years, until August 2025. By renewing the certificate, the Stifterverband recognises the university’s commitment to and engagement with diversity on campus.
Over the course of an eighteen-month process, the Diversity Commission, together with the Vice-President for International Affairs and Diversity, Prof. Dr Tatiana Zimenkova, examined developments, further objectives and concerns relating to the topic of diversity. Various members of the university community also contributed to and supported this dialogue.
Guided by the motto ‘Diversity as Participation’, the university is now setting about implementing the development goals it has set for itself. At the top of the agenda is the development of a diversity mission statement. In particular, the discussions held during the ‘Days of Antidiscrimination’ – an annual forum for dialogue open to all members of the university community – will be taken into account.

‘Shaping Diversity’
certificate: Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences successfully completed the Stifterverband’s re-audit in August 2022. As part of this process, the ‘Shaping Diversity’ certificate was extended for a further three years until 2025. The university had previously completed the Stifterverband’s diversity audit in February 2018 and received the ‘Shaping Diversity’ certificate, valid for three years.
The ‘Shaping Diversity’ audit conducted by the Stifterverband für die deutsche Wissenschaft supports and advises universities on developing strategies, structures, programmes, tools and measures for diverse groups of people, on including these groups in everyday university life, and on guiding students from diverse backgrounds towards academic success.
