The BA programme in Early Years Education is introducing a new course format and, to this end, is opening the doors of the KLEX learning workshop. The programme kicks off with the topic ‘Trauma-informed education’ on 8 November 2018.
As part of this series of events, experts from the fields of (early years) education will give talks on current topics. The workshop discussions will begin with three presentations on the topics of trauma-informed education, conflict management, and mental health issues in childhood and adolescence.
All professionals and staff working in educational settings – including, for example, nursery schools, schools, early intervention services, and child and youth welfare services – as well as students at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences are invited to attend. In addition to professional development, the exchange of expertise amongst participants is a key aspect of the programme. Participation in the events is free of charge.
The series begins with the topic of trauma-informed education. Johannes Guterding, a qualified social worker and certified trauma-informed educator, will provide an introduction and speak about the needs of traumatised children and young people, as well as the specific challenges involved in working with them.
The first workshop discussion will take place on 8 November 2018 at 6.00 pm on the Kleve Campus, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, in Building 3, ground floor, Room 03 EG 009.
