Weckmann feast on the Kleve campus celebrates its fifth anniversary (News)

Over three metres long, intricately decorated and still warm from the oven – the Förderverein Campus Cleve e.V. has once again donated what is probably the largest Weckmann in the Lower Rhine region to Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. To mark the fifth anniversary of this tradition, students from Kleve and Kamp-Lintfort, members of the Förderverein and staff from Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences gathered yesterday to tuck into the giant Weckmann together.

Peter Wack, Chair of the Förderverein Campus Cleve e.V., President Dr Heide Naderer and master confectioner Walter Heicks were particularly delighted to welcome the large number of hungry guests. Whilst no suitable English translation has yet been found for ‘Weckmann’, this year once again demonstrated that the pre-Christmas gathering brings together many generations and nationalities in shared enjoyment. Accompanied by mulled wine or hot chocolate, the cheerful get-together continued well into the evening.
