Guest lecture on the topic of ‘Africa’ for all students and anyone else interested on 19 May 2016 at 6.00 pm in the Lecture Theatre Centre, ground floor, Room 01 EG 010 on the Kleve campus of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences.
Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 17 May 2016: As part of the ‘Economics, Ecology and Ethics’ module on the Bachelor’s degree programme in Sustainable Tourism, Prof. Dr Dirk Reiser takes a fundamental look at the relationship between humans and the environment and the resulting interactions. Under the title ‘Trans-Africa – 1 Year, 19 Countries, 57,000 Kilometres’, a guest lecture by Lena Klemm and Tobias Seiderer will be incorporated into the course, providing a practical foundation for the theoretical content. The guest lecture is an authentically narrated account of a journey and a declaration of love for the beautiful and wild continent of Africa.
The shared passion of the two speakers, Lena Klemm and Tobias Seiderer from Cologne, is photography and travelling across the African continent. Following around 30 trips to Africa through the southern and eastern parts of the continent, the highlight came in 2011/2012 with a year-long journey: a round trip during which Klemm and Seiderer travelled in their Land Rover for 13 months through 19 countries and over 57,000 kilometres across the African continent, all the way back to Cologne. Lena Klemm and Tobias Seiderer will take the audience on a fascinating journey across Africa in their old Land Rover.
