As part of the ‘Study Guidance Weeks’ running from 14 January to 25 January 2019, prospective students will be provided with guidance and information on topics such as starting university, choosing a degree programme and organising their studies.
With its comprehensive programme, the event is not only aimed at secondary school pupils and their parents. For the first time, there will also be special content for prospective students who do not hold a (specialised) A-level qualification or who have children. Over the course of these two weeks, participants will receive all the necessary information on topics such as starting university, choosing a degree programme and organising their studies.
At the Kleve and Kamp-Lintfort campuses, the four faculties and the Central Student Advisory Service will be introducing themselves to those interested. They will provide an insight into the university and various career paths, as well as offering support and advice. In addition, there will be interdisciplinary and programme-specific events, workshops and information evenings. There will also be an opportunity to speak directly with experts. The programme at the Kleve campus includes, amongst other things, an ‘Information Forum for Prospective Students and Students with Children’ (16 January 2019, 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm), which will provide information on the various support options available. Alongside the relevant contact points at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, organisations such as the Düsseldorf Student Services Organisation (Studierendenwerk Düsseldorf), the AWO and the BUK Family Service will also be presenting themselves. The event ‘Studying without a (subject-specific) A-level – those with vocational qualifications introduce themselves’ (21 January 2019, 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm) not only offers general information on vocational qualifications and starting a degree, but also gives participants the chance to hear from students about their personal journeys – from vocational training and work experience right through to admission.
At the Kamp-Lintfort campus, the talk and Q&A session entitled ‘Studying with a disability – support options and compensation for disadvantages at university’ (15 January 2019, 4.30 pm to 6.00 pm) is specifically aimed at prospective students with a chronic illness or disability. The study orientation workshop ‘Discovering talents – making decisions’ (18 January 2019, 3.00 pm to 6.30 pm) supports participants in their decision-making. The bachelor’s degree programmes will be presented in Kamp-Lintfort on 23 January 2019 and in Kleve on 24 January 2019, starting at 4.30 pm on both occasions. The event will begin at both venues with the introductory talk ‘Welcome to Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences’, providing information on applications, entry requirements and study options.
