Studium Generale: Next lecture on 19 November 2019
No living organism in nature grows as fast as microorganisms. But what does ‘growth’ actually mean in the context of cells? What are the prerequisites? And how can growing microorganisms be harnessed to generate economic growth? The two speakers will examine these aspects from the perspectives of industry and academia. As well as examples, there will also be ‘live’ growth – during the lecture, growth will be demonstrated in a laboratory bioreactor.
The event will take place at the Kleve campus of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, Lecture Theatre Centre, ground floor, Room 01 EG 010 (Audimax).
The lecture forms part of the Studium Generale programme and has been designed to make science accessible through lectures that are easy for everyone to understand. The lecture programme is aimed at members of the public, students, school pupils and anyone in the region with an interest in science, as well as at lecturers and staff at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, with a focus on general, universal education. The lecture series also provides a platform for lively exchange and discussion on current issues.
