As part of the ‘Students Meet Business’ event, more than 20 companies once again set up stands in the corridors of the lecture theatre block at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences to get to know the university’s students and showcase their businesses.
Dr Heide Naderer, President of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, was delighted to welcome the large number of participants and guests. In her conversation with presenter Christoph Kepser, who guided the participants through the lunchtime event, she emphasised that the university provides companies with skilled professionals from a wide range of fields. For example, if one were looking for engineers, they could be found in the Faculty of Technology and Bionics; if one were looking for specialists in the fields of business or social sciences, they could be found in the Faculty of Society and Economics.
“I will definitely be taking part in ‘Studierende treffen Wirtschaft’ again next year,” said SPECTRO Managing Director Michael Privik enthusiastically. The world’s leading supplier of analytical instruments in the field of optical emission and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry is not only looking for German-speaking students: “Knowledge of German is not a requirement for us, but there must be a project in place where the student can put the knowledge they have learnt into practice. We support Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences wherever we can.” Privik held a good 40 discussions that afternoon, each one better than the last.
For Christiane Lübcke of GASA Group Germany GmbH, too, it is not crucial whether the student can speak German from the outset: “If they are capable, then together we’ll ensure they acquire the necessary German language skills,” says Lübcke. The company, which operates across Europe, is one of the leading specialists in the marketing of ornamental, pot and outdoor plants.
The Agello Group had specifically highlighted this event in its leaflets and brochures. The message: “We’ll give your career a boost: get started now”. Apollo Milchprodukte GmbH, Frutarom Germany GmbH and the Michael Lommen tax consultancy were once again impressed by the event format, as were the companies that accepted the invitation from the Förderverein Campus Cleve for the first time. For Verena Böer and Melanie Russo from the Haus Horst care home, it was clear that they wanted to take part in “Students Meet Business” this year: “The care home is a member of the Friends’ Association and is delighted to support the region and, above all, the students at our university in any way it can.” Ursula Ries from the Verbandssparkasse Goch-Kevelaer-Weeze also echoed this sentiment, as she believes it is important for companies in the region to introduce themselves to the local university. “We need to show the students that we’re delighted to have them here,” said Ries.
