They had already won the poster competition. Now, the students from the Faculty of Communication and the Environment presented their interdisciplinary project on the theme ‘Monterburg – Historical Reconstruction of Monterburg and its History’, including a film produced specifically for the occasion, to an enthusiastic audience.
Under the supervision of Professor Dr Frank Zimmer, Professor of Computer Science and Mathematics, and Dr Frank Dießenbacher, lecturer in Media Technology at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, students on the Media Informatics degree programme spent an entire semester exploring the history of Monterburg. In doing so, they worked closely with the ‘Monterberg e. V.’ association.
Through their project, the students were able to successfully support the association in bringing the project to fruition by producing an informative and vivid film on the history of the castle. To this end, they carried out extensive research, conducted interviews with local experts, brought the historical background to life in the form of a short dramatisation, and created an animated 3D reconstruction of Monterburg Castle as it would have appeared in the 13th and 14th centuries.
They have now presented the result of their work to an enthusiastic audience. The “Monterberg e.V.” association is delighted with the film and hopes that it will help to attract further support for the research and preservation of the castle.
