Dr Oliver Locker-Grütjen was delighted to see so many people present on the Kamp-Lintfort campus and emphasised: “With the Deutschlandstipendium, we have a ‘win-win-win’ situation for the university, the sponsors and the scholarship holders”. He presented the certificates and expressed particular gratitude for the commitment shown by the scholarship sponsors. “This support not only provides financial relief for students, but also serves as an important point of contact between future graduates entering the labour market and companies in the region,” said the university president.
During a celebratory buffet in the canteen, sponsors and scholarship recipients had the opportunity to get to know one another. Together with representatives from the regional business community and members of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, they were also able to have interesting discussions about their studies, career aspirations and professional goals, and to forge new contacts with the companies.
Students with very good academic results can apply for a Germany Scholarship, regardless of their parents’ income. The monthly grant of 150.00 euros, which Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences raises from support associations, private sponsors, companies or institutions, is then matched by the federal government. In addition to financial support, the scholarship offers non-material support through an accompanying programme, which, in the view of the regional business community, benefits all parties involved. On the one hand, this helps to counteract the shortage of skilled workers in the region; on the other, it gives students the chance to prove themselves in the labour market.

information The Germany Scholarship supports students at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences who have already achieved outstanding academic results or who are expected to achieve particularly good academic results. In addition to academic performance and previous academic record, social commitment, a willingness to take on responsibility, and special social, family or personal circumstances are taken into account. Scholarship holders receive a monthly grant of 300.00 euros for one year. Half of the funding is raised by the university from private donors, whilst the other half is provided by the federal government. Students of all nationalities and from all disciplines are eligible to apply. They must be enrolled at the university or intend to enrol in the following semester. The application period for the Deutschlandstipendium takes place via an online portal every May. This financial support enables scholarship recipients to focus more intensively on their studies. In addition to financial support, the programme focuses on non-material values. For example, a support programme offers workshops on a wide variety of topics, a scholarship network and contacts within the regional business community. Interaction with the sponsors provides opportunities for industry-related dissertations and other projects.
