Ana Maria Rivas Sandoval and Ricardo do Nascimento Fernandes are in charge of the DAAD-funded “Welcome Refugees” project at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences. It is important to these two Welcome Centre tutors that students, prospective students with a refugee background and representatives of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences are well connected.
On 4 November, the two of them are therefore inviting anyone interested in the topic to a round-table discussion on Webex from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm.
“According to the results of a survey carried out by the Welcome Centre, students with a refugee background at our university would like to see such an event organised so that they can exchange ideas with one another. We have, of course, been happy to fulfil this wish and hope that, through the participants, we will also learn what is already working well at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences and what we can do even better,” said Ana Maria Rivas Sandoval. Her colleague Ricardo Do Nascimento Fernades also points out that a round-table discussion can, of course, offer added value for prospective students. “Students with a refugee background who are already enrolled at a university have already overcome a number of hurdles and are certainly role models for prospective students. We believe that such an exchange can be very valuable in terms of mutual support.”
Anyone interested is warmly welcome to contact the Welcome Centre with any questions via welcome-centre@hochschule-rhein-waal.de or simply to attend the event.
