The Children’s University

Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 13 June 2014: How do rockets actually work, and what on earth can you do with them? Rockets aren’t just something to marvel at on New Year’s Eve. They are currently the only way to launch satellites and spacecraft. Prof. Dr Neil Shirtcliffe explains how this works and what the fields of chemistry and physics have in common with rockets. There’ll be bangs, hisses and ploughs of steam in the main lecture theatre at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences. Young visitors can look forward to exciting, splash-filled water experiments to try out for themselves and marvel at.

The Children’s University

Through the Children’s University, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences offers children aged between 8 and 12 the opportunity to develop a passion for the world of science through lectures (45 minutes) specially designed for them. Just like proper students, they are given student ID cards. They sit in lecture theatres and can ask real professors all sorts of questions. The big difference from a proper degree course is that there are no exams to sit.
