Promoting structural and built environment resources and strengthening residents’ sense of community – a task to which the city of Kleve is committed. To this end, at the end of last year it approved a neighbourhood development project within the area bounded by Hoffmannallee, Königsallee, Merowinger Straße and Lindenallee. In collaboration with Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, the city aims to gain a deeper understanding of community life in this neighbourhood through a research project.
At Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Society and Economics, a project group led by Prof. Dr Ingrid Jungwirth has developed a concept for the survey. As a first step, interviews will be conducted over the coming weeks with residents living in the neighbourhood. These will focus on living conditions and community life in the neighbourhood, work and life, leisure and civic engagement, the residential environment and the availability of local services. The aim of this exploratory analysis is to systematically assess the living conditions and needs of residents and to identify potential areas for action in future local planning and neighbourhood development. A survey is then planned as a second step. The findings of the study are intended to enable the City of Kleve to take targeted measures to improve the quality of life in the neighbourhood.
