At its 14th meeting on 8 May 2017, the University Council of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences elected Prof. Dr Aloys Krieg as its new Chair with immediate effect.
At its 14th meeting on 8 May 2017, the University Council of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, chaired by Prof. Dr Robert Renner, elected Prof. Dr Aloys Krieg as its new Chair. He thus succeeds Prof. Dr Gerard Meijer.
The University Council plays a direct strategic role and oversees the university’s day-to-day operations. The University Council contributes its expertise to advise the Executive Board and takes part in the election of Executive Board members.
Prof. Dr Aloys Krieg has held the post of Vice-Rector for Teaching at RWTH Aachen University since 2008. He has held Chair A in Mathematics at RWTH Aachen University since 1993 and served as Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences from 2000 to 2004.
The external members are therefore: Prof. Dr Aloys Krieg (RWTH Aachen, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Teaching), as Chair of the University Council; Milena Karabaic (Rhineland Regional Council, Head of the Department of Culture and Environment); Dr Martin Kessler (Rheinische Post, Senior Political Editor), Dr Attila Bilgic (KROHNE Messtechnik GmbH, Managing Director) and Dr Iris Zemzoum (Janssen-Cilag GmbH, part of the ‘Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson’, Chair of the Management Board).
Internal members are Prof. Dr Georg Bastian, Professor of Applied Optoelectronics and Laser Physics at the Faculty of Technology and Bionics; Prof. Dr Daniela Lud, Professor of Environmental Assessment and Remediation at the Faculty of Communication and Environment; Prof. Dr Diana Marquardt, Professor of Business Administration specialising in the tourism industry at the Faculty of Society and Economics; and Prof. Dr Robert Renner, Professor of Health Promotion and Nutrition at the Faculty of Life Sciences.
