This year’s Wednesday Academy at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences is being held under the multifaceted theme ‘From regional to global – business and society in the current affairs of our time’. In this context, the topic of ‘National Demarcation’ will be explored on 5 June.
In autumn 2014, deep rifts began to emerge in the Saxon capital over the phenomenon known as Pegida, which today, in the form of the AfD, is causing bitter controversy across the country. In his lecture ‘Pegida and Right-wing Populism’, Dr Christoph Meißelbach, a research fellow at the Chair of Political Systems and Comparative Politics at TU Dresden, combines personal impressions and experiences with academic analysis. He offers original insights into developments that will continue to occupy us intensely in the future – and which should therefore be properly understood and addressed.
The lecture will take place on 5 June 2019 at 6.00 pm on the Kleve Campus, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, in Building 02, Room 02 01 017 (Seminar Room 5).
As part of the Wednesday Academy, current topics are presented clearly by speakers from academia and the professional world, examined from a theoretical perspective and discussed in a large group. The lecture series is aimed primarily at the general public, but also at students and teaching staff at the university. Attendance is free of charge and no advance registration is required.
