As part of a partnership between Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences and Donghua University in China, ten students will be continuing their studies in Kleve on the ‘Bio Science and Health’ degree programme from 22 January 2015. To support the students in learning the German language and to help them familiarise themselves with German culture, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences is looking for host families for the students.
Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 24 November 2014: From 22 January 2015, ten Chinese students from Donghua University in Shanghai will be moving to the Lower Rhine region, where, as part of a cooperation programme between Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences and Donghua University in Shanghai, they will spend four semesters studying for their degree in German at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences. “We urgently need host families for our Chinese students. The students will practise speaking German in everyday life here in Kleve with their host families, alongside their intensive German course; they will get to know German culture and be prepared for the start of their studies in the fourth semester,” says Prof. Dr Marie-Louise Klotz, President of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences.
The eight male and two female students have successfully completed a selection process and are aged between 20 and 23. At the start of their stay, the visiting students will learn German on an eight-week intensive course. Afterwards, the students will begin their studies on the German-taught ‘Bio Science and Health’ programme at the Faculty of Life Sciences.
Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences is therefore seeking accommodation with open-minded host families for a period of at least two months. Once they have settled in, the students should be able to move into suitable rooms or flats. The students will cover their own living costs for the entire duration of their studies at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, as well as the cost of their German language courses. The students will pay the host families an allowance to cover the cost of board and lodging. The host families will receive support from the university.
